CNCL Ecotourism Project

Champions for Nature Conservation Liberia (CNCL) offers structured volunteer and internship opportunities designed for both local Liberian citizens and international participants from overseas. These positions directly support their ecotourism initiatives, community outreach programs, and the CNCL Conservation Education Center and Research Forest in Gomosue, Bentol (Bensonville). Core Areas for Placement Volunteers and interns generally assist CNCL staff across four main project tracks: 

• Ecotourism Support: Working alongside the Ecotourism Officer to map trails, create guided materials, and assist with tours.
• Conservation Education: Assisting the Conservation Education Officer in building and leading "School Nature Clubs" for local youth.
• Community Engagement: Partnering with community leaders on sustainable livelihood assessments and waste management initiatives.
• Field Research & Forestry: Collecting biophysical data on plant species, wetlands, and biodiversity within various PPAs and at our field research forest camp in Bensonville.

 Information for Overseas (International) Applicants International volunteers and researchers looking to support CNCL from abroad can choose between two main pathways:

• Vetted Placement Organisations: Many international individuals coordinate their travel and local logistics through established platforms like Volunteer Liberia or the West Africa Volunteers Development Initiative (WAVDI), which frequently place participants with environmental NGOs in the Montserrado region.

 Information for In-Liberia Applicants Local students and young professionals (particularly from institutions like the University of Liberia's Forestry Department) can apply for hands-on, practical field experience. 

• Duration: Tracks typically range from short-term summer placements to multi-month university internship completions.
• Location: Field activities alternate between the administrative offices in Paynesville and active project sites in the any of the major protected or community conservation sites across Liberia
